Julian Starting Preschool

I almost can’t believe that Julian is old enough to already be starting school to be quite honest! I am excited and sad at the same time if that makes any sense at all. It’s quite the little milestone for him and me. It’s as if I’m seeing a little boy now rather than my rambunctious toddler, and it seems like the years keep going so fast now!

Because of this huge milestone, my husband, Oscar, keeps hinting at family expansion. So much so that he went and traded in his car for a new, roomier Rav4 to accommodate more people. His reasoning was that we needed a better “family” vehicle lol! It doesn’t really help that Julian has now started asking me for a baby sister on the regular too.

Back to the preschool milestone: I am not worried about Julian starting school. He is super adaptable and loves to please others. You could pretty much call him a “people pleaser”; he’s just a sweet boy! Thankfully, most of the kids in his daycare will also be going to his preschool, so he will already have friends and/or acquaintances in his class when he starts. This summer was also the first time he’s been in an organized sport (soccer), and while other kids were breaking down when the moms and dads were leaving, Julian was perfectly ok going to play with the team.

I am not going to lie: I personally am excited to start buying his school supplies for him! The backpacks don’t look so big on him anymore which goes back to reminding me that he’s not my “little” boy. His favorite thing about school coming up has to be the chance to ride on the “big kid bus” some of the mornings. That will probably be the hardest step for me! It’s the weirdest feeling seeing my little boy growing up into a big boy. I’m sure all parents feel like this at the beginning of every school year, but this will be my first and certainly not the last time I feel this way!
